How the fees break down
A2P 10DLC is the standard US carriers use to separate legitimate business texting from spam. Every business sending SMS or MMS from a local ten-digit number has to register a brand and at least one campaign through The Campaign Registry before carriers will deliver its messages reliably.
Your bill has three moving parts, and they behave differently:
Registration and vetting
Submitting your business details and your first messaging campaign for compliance review. Charged at signup, then only when you add a new campaign.
Campaign subscription
A recurring fee for each campaign you keep active. The amount depends on the use case you registered.
Carrier and message fees
AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular each surcharge every segment crossing their network, on top of the underlying send rate.
Every figure on this page is what BizApp247 bills you. It covers the underlying registry and carrier charges plus the work around them — BizApp247 files your brand and campaign, deals with rejections and resubmissions, and keeps your numbers attached to an approved campaign so your sends don't get filtered. The registry and carriers publish lower base rates; the difference is that service.
What will this actually cost me?
Pick your brand tier and campaign type, then enter roughly how much you send in a month. The estimate updates as you type and reflects BizApp247 rates.
Monthly cost estimator
Uses the rates on this page. Real invoices vary with your carrier mix and message length.
Assumes $0.009 per SMS segment in carrier fees and $0.015 per outbound MMS, the mid-point across AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular. A message longer than 160 characters counts as more than one segment. Fast-track processing is included in the one-time figure.
Registration and vetting
Your brand and your first campaign are both submitted from the A2P registration screen inside your BizApp247 account, and both are charged together as a single one-time amount when you register. That bundle covers:
- Registering your business as a brand with The Campaign Registry
- Vetting your first messaging campaign
- Fast-track processing ($9), which targets approval inside three business days
Monthly campaign charges are billed separately and depend on the use case you register — those are in section 5.
If your campaign comes back rejected, you can correct it and resubmit as many times as needed without paying another vetting fee.
Brand tiers and one-time fees
Which tier you register under determines both what you pay upfront and how much you are allowed to send.
| Brand tier | One-time fee | Numbers and daily limit |
|---|---|---|
| Sole proprietor | $73.50 | 1 number, 3,000 segments/day |
| Low volume standard | $73.50 | Multiple numbers, 6,000 segments/day |
| High volume standard | $215.72 | Multiple numbers, 600,000 segments/day |
The high volume bundle covers secondary vetting, so a first submission that gets rejected can go through the deeper review at no extra cost.
Adding campaigns later
The bundled fee applies only to your very first registration. Once your brand exists, every additional campaign under it costs a flat $45.00 vetting fee — you do not pay to register the brand again.
Monthly campaign fees
Each active campaign carries a recurring charge priced by the use case you selected at registration. Some use cases also ask for extra documentation before approval, and sub-types within a use case can price differently.
| Campaign use case | Monthly fee |
|---|---|
| Sole proprietor (starter campaign) | $6.00 |
| Standard use cases | $30.00 |
| Low volume mixed use case | $4.50 |
| Charity / 501(c)(3) | $9.00 |
| Emergency services | $15.00 |
It caps you at 2,000 SMS segments a day to T-Mobile and gives you reduced throughput regardless of how good your trust score is. If you run campaigns or bulk follow-up, the $30 standard use case will move your messages faster.
Per-message carrier fees
Carriers charge on every segment that crosses their network. This sits on top of the message rates in the next section, and the amount depends on which network the recipient is on. T-Mobile and AT&T also charge on messages coming in.
| Carrier | SMS out | SMS in | MMS out | MMS in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AT&T | $0.009 | $0.009 | $0.0225 | $0.0225 |
| T-Mobile | $0.009 | $0.009 | $0.003 | $0.003 |
| Verizon | $0.009 | — | $0.015 | — |
| US Cellular | $0.015 | — | $0.03 | — |
Carriers can throttle, surcharge or silently drop traffic from numbers that are not attached to an approved campaign. Check that every number you send from is linked to a registered campaign before you run anything at volume.
T-Mobile absorbed the Sprint network in 2020, but some handsets still report as Sprint. Those messages are billed at T-Mobile rates.
Message and call rates
Separate from registration and campaign fees, you pay a per-unit rate to actually send and receive. These apply to both local and toll-free numbers unless the row says otherwise.
| Service | Rate |
|---|---|
| SMS outbound | $0.0237 |
| SMS inbound | $0.0237 |
| MMS outbound | $0.0600 |
| MMS inbound, local number | $0.0300 |
| MMS inbound, toll-free number | $0.0600 |
| Voice outbound | $0.0540 / min |
| Voice inbound | $0.0255 / min |
To send one text to an AT&T customer you pay $0.0237 for the send plus $0.009 to the carrier — $0.0327 in total, or roughly $33 per thousand messages.
Common questions
What is a trust score and does it cost anything?
Nothing is charged for it. Your trust score sets how many messages per second your campaign is allowed to push. A higher score means faster throughput and less carrier filtering; a low one means your sends queue up and are more likely to be blocked.
Do I pay the vetting fee more than once?
Yes, but only per campaign. Every new campaign you submit is vetted and charged, including your first. Resubmitting a campaign that was rejected is free.
Is the brand registration fee charged for every campaign?
No. You register a brand once. Additional campaigns under that same brand cost $45.00 each in vetting, with no second brand fee.
Are these the same rates The Campaign Registry charges?
No. The registry and the carriers set base rates that are lower than the figures here. What BizApp247 bills covers those costs plus filing your brand and campaigns, handling rejections, and keeping your numbers compliant as the rules change. You can register directly with the registry instead — you would then own the filing and troubleshooting yourself.
Can these prices change?
Yes. BizApp247 rates track the underlying registry and carrier pricing, and those parties adjust at any time. Check this page or ask your BizApp247 account manager before budgeting a large campaign.
What counts as a message segment?
A segment is the billing unit for a text. Most US carriers treat 160 characters of plain text as one segment. Go over that and your message is split and billed as two or more — which is why emoji and long links quietly double your send cost.
